Colorful bands of colors, surprisingly unique shapes, brilliant lines and organic subjects dot the landscape of Honey Checkers. This original canvas painting depicts many things, and as such, there is no clear cut central subject, yet, that is part of Honey Checkers' charm. This piece is made up of nine different canvas panels, each capable of standing alone as its own unique piece of art. Despite their singular qualities, the pieces balance one another out perfectly. Some pieces focus a great deal on line, such as the tiles in the upper left portions seen here. These bands of color criss cross over one another, creating a feeling of motion, and a beautiful layered feeling. In other tiles the artist uses wavering lines to present a different sort of motion. Other tiles suggest natural subjects rather than emphasize patterning. These bring leaves, primarily, to the foreground of the painting and stand out as the only concrete subjects in the piece. Yet, other paintings emphasize a variety of geometric shapes that come together to create intricate abstract landscapes, despite the limited size available. Despite the profoundly different material painted unto each of the tiles present in Honey Checkers, the artist has used a somewhat limited color palette. These colors include amber shades of brown and gold, cream, red, and yellow. These soothing, warm tones create a similarly peaceful atmosphere in the piece as a whole, which will have residual effects throughout any home.
